FAQS

Here are the most common questions we get asked about hot water.

Q. WILL IT WORK IN AREAS THAT EXPERIENCE SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURES?

In most cases, yes. These temperatures won't stop the unit from working, however the amount of hot water it produces each hour will slow down slightly. To dramatically impact the performance of the unit, the temperature would need to remain below zero for extended periods of time, which is not a common occurence in most parts of Australia.
Also thanks to it's Active Defrost feature, this will protect the unit from frost build up to ensure it gets back to generating hot water.

Q. WHAT IS ACTIVE DEFROST?

Active Defrost is a protective function of the unit designed to switch on when the frost monitor detects a build up of frost. It will ensure the unit doesn't get a build up of frost and gets back to doing it's job of heating your water.

Q. THERE'S ONLY ONE SIZE AVAILABLE, WILL THAT BE BIG ENOUGH?

For most homes, yes. The 300L tank equates to approximately 540L of shower ready hot water, meaning you would need to take 12 x 5 minute showers (9L/min) to use up everything in the tank (so to speak)!

Q. DOES IT HAVE (OR REQUIRE) A BOOSTER ELEMENT?

The Thermann heat pump doesn't (and isn't required to) have a booster element. By not having the element, the unit will still continue to provide hot water the energy efficient way, as opposed to other units that use expensive electricity for the boost function to work.
