Discover Thermann’s latest innovation, the Smart Electric. Take control of your energy use, cut costs, and schedule heating for optimal efficiency all through the Thermann Control app on your phone. You can also adjust tank temperature remotely, save during off-peak hours, and even predict usage patterns for minimal energy consumption. Experience the future of hot water management.
The Smart Electric Hot Water System works just like an electric storage system, only you can control when it heats water through our Thermann Control App. Once the hot water system is turned on, ‘pairing mode’ will be activated and you can pair your mobile to your unit. You can then explore the different operating modes – Eco, Holiday, Schedule and Manual – to determine which will be best for you. You can also track your energy use and power bills via this app.
With built in wi-fi and the easy-to-use Thermann Control App, your customers can now:
Use our online optimiser tool to find out which mode is recommended for you.*
Our new app-enhanced electric hot water system gives you control, allowing you to reduce power usage and achieve significant cost savings. With smart features tailored to optimize energy efficiency, customers with PV solar can save up to up to $1000 per year*, while those on a TOU tariff system can expect annual savings of up to $650*. Easy to install with the same footprint and connection points as our other electric units, it can be seamlessly integrated into your home.
These are the estimated savings by replacing a standard electric water heater with a smart electric water heater in either of two scenarios: (1) Household with a PV solar system fitted; (2) Household without a PV solar system connected to a Time-of-Use (TOU) tariff. The amount of electricity used to operate the water heater for one year is calculated based on hot water usage and weather data conditions as specified in Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 4234 for a 4-person household based in Zone 3. Data displayed represents the savings achieved when comparing the Thermann Smart Electric 3.0kW, 315L model with a standard 3.0kW, 315L electric water heater but with a thermostat setting of 65 degrees.
(1) Savings of up to $1000 are based on historic solar production data and assume a single tariff rate of 35c per kWh and a feed in tariff (FiT) of 7c per kWh when the heater is scheduled between the hours of 10 am and 3pm and relies on excess power greater than 3kW available between those scheduled hours for a significant portion of the year. It is assumed that the PV panels are north facing, have a tilt of 25 degrees and is at an Azimuth of 0. The actual savings could vary based on weather, availability of excess solar PV, orientation/inclination of the solar panels, actual tariff rates, usage patterns and the amount of hot water used by the customer. Smaller sized PV systems may not be able to generate the required excess power to achieve the maximum savings.
(2) Savings of up to $600 for households with a TOU tariff, when the Thermann Smart Electric water heater is timed to heat only during off-peak tariff periods, using TOU tariff of 54c peak rate, 33c shoulder rate and 25c off-peak rate per kWh, and for the standard electric water heater, using the same TOU tariff rates as applicable based on time of use and heating throughout the day. Note that the savings would be similar even when compared with a standard electric water heater on a single tariff (peak) rate of 35c per kWh. Savings of up to $400 for households with a TOU tariff, when the Thermann Smart Electric water heater is timed to heat only during off-peak tariff periods, using TOU tariff of 45c peak rate, 28c shoulder rate and 24c off-peak rate per kWh, and for the standard electric water heater, using the same TOU tariff rates as applicable based on time of use and heating throughout the day. These savings don't apply to customers on controlled load or off-peak tariff systems.
